Borwin VI –
Siekmann awarded Valve Contract for the Borwin VI project

Dortmund, 01.03.2024, News – Siekmann has received a large valve order from a leading international plant manufacturer (EPC) for a converter platform in an offshore wind farm in the North Sea. The partnership helps to support the energy industry in the transition to sustainable, reliable and affordable energy.
Siekmann’s scope includes project management and consulting services for the supply of butterfly valves and gears, including production supervision, acceptance, performance guarantee and project completion. Delivery is scheduled for July 2024.

About the project

Borwin VI is an offshore grid connection system to be implemented by a leading European grid operator in the German North Sea. Electricity generated from offshore wind farms will be converted into direct current and transported to an onshore converter station near Büttel, Germany. Here, the electricity is converted back into three-phase current and fed into the extra-high voltage grid. The converter station (topside) is being built in a shipyard in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The facilities and the power grid are scheduled to go into operation in 2027. This project in the field of renewable energies will help shape a better tomorrow and leads to considerable cost savings through the use of new technology.

“Siekmann is proud of the business relationship,” said Michael Tielking, Managing Director and CEO. “Our extensive product and technology expertise, combined with professional project management and execution capabilities and decades of experience, puts us in a unique position to make this large order a success.”
